Tonight, I was working on the online half of a workshop that I need to complete for graduation and teacher certification. It's all about bullying and harassment in schools. While some of the facts I had learned about previously, some of the information was very interesting to learn.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight's post is inspired by the series finale of one of my favorite television shows, Glee, which just went off air about an hour ago, so stop reading if you haven't had the chance to watch the finale yet... come back after you reminisce with the New Directions. The show was on for six years, premiering its pilot episode back in May 2009. For its finale, the show tugged at the heartstrings of "Gleeks" everywhere by showing the progression of how far the characters have come since that first episode (and flashing back to the amazing "Don't Stop Believin'" musical number from the pilot featuring the late Cory Monteith -- cue the tears here). Glee's look back at six years ago made me think about how much has changed in my own life since that time, and I realized just how much can happen in six seemingly short years. Today was my last day of student teaching with my fourth grade class. What a bittersweet day it was! The children were so well behaved, and really made my day special. They made me laugh and filled my heart with joy, and I held in all of my tears until I was alone in the classroom after school. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
You know those butterflies you get in your stomach right before something big happens? Whether it's good, bad, happy, or sad, your insides are somersaulting as you prepare for that big moment. That's exactly how I feel as I lay here in bed thinking about the fact that tomorrow is my last day in my first student teaching placement. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Unfortunately, I'm getting to bed way too late tonight and I'm exhausted, so I don't have time for a long post right now... I realize that I haven't been on the topic of foster care all this week, but once the craziness of this week is over, I'll be good to go. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Well, today was pretty interesting. If there were more days like this during everyone's student teaching semester, I bet everyone would be much better prepared to run their own classroom someday. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
On yesterday's post, I talked about packing up things that we don't need right now, in preparation for our move to Florida in a few months. I received a comment on the post, asking if we will continue to do foster care after we move, and if so, will my parents need to be re-certified in Florida. I thought I would address the question in a new post. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I believe I mentioned a while ago that my family is moving to Florida in less than six months. Time passes so quickly, and it seems like we just started discussing the possibility of moving, yet we've actually been planning this for two years now. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Yesterday, I wrote about keeping busy with baking cupcakes for a little surprise party. Well today, with the help of my students, we pulled off a small surprise for the teacher I'm working with to celebrate her birthday! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I had a lot going on tonight (making cupcakes for a little surprise party) so I don't have time for a long post. I thought that I would share a memory of early on in our foster care journey though. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
