It was another exhausting day here, filled with trips to the storage unit, yards of bubble wrap, sweat, aches, and dirt. We were all so dirty and filthy by the end of the day that it felt like we had to wash our hands four times before we could touch food. Everyone's back hurts, we ran over our own feet more times than I can count, and I think I even managed to bruise my butt somehow. It was wonderful, but we were so thankful to have our friends come to help us again, because we wouldn't have gotten half of this done without them.
Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Wow, I am completely wiped out tonight. The storage containers that will be taking all of our stuff down to Florida arrived this morning, so we spent all day carrying boxes around. Not only that, but a lot of stuff was still in our storage unit, so my sister and I were back and forth bringing van-loads of boxes home from fifteen minutes away; it was crazy. Now, I can't believe that it's Friday again already... it seems like last Friday was yesterday! This means that it's time for another Foster Parent Friday interview, this time from a woman who wishes to be referred to as "S.S." and wants to share her perspective on being a foster parent. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I thought that I would share another story about a specific placement that we've had in our home. My foster sister was just a few days old when she came to us; I was about six or seven. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Have you ever moved before? This is the first time that my family has ever moved, and I never realized how much is involved with the process prior to going through it now. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I want to dedicate a very special post to one of the greatest men I've ever known: my grandpa. Today marks the sixteenth anniversary of his death, and on days like today, I enjoy remembering the special memories we had together. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
We received some really big news today, and since we've shared the good news with close family and friends, I'm excited to write about it here as well... Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was a really nice way to end the holiday weekend! As I mentioned yesterday, we went to our friends' house for a little bar-be-que today, and it was so nice to take a break from the packing and chaos of moving to just have fun. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I know that I have readers from different countries, but to those here in the United States, I'd like to wish you a Happy Independence Day! Here in America, people have been celebrating the anniversary of our country's independence in a whirlwind of red, white, and blue. Welcome back to Taylor Talks! If you thought yesterday sounded like a busy day in my house, it was nothing compared to today! My mom's friend had off from work, so she came over to help with a bunch of packing. My dad took the younger three kids to the park to get them out of our hair, so between my mom, her friend, my sister, and me, we got a whole lot accomplished. I mean, we kind of went crazy and jumped ahead with things, so now people will be sleeping on mattresses on the floor for a week or so, but hey, at least we made a lot of progress today! And it's so cute to see that my twin sisters ended up together on one mattress... reminded my mom of when they used to get themselves into the same crib so they could play together! Then tonight, I went with my friend and his boyfriend to get more bubble wrap (yes, 200 more square feet of bubble wrap), and we're moving steadily along. My parents and I finally had a chance to sit down for the first time all day, and I almost panicked because I hadn't thought of a topic for tonight's post, yikes! But then I remembered it was time for another Foster Parent Friday interview! Tonight, we're learning about Julie's experience as a foster parent in New Zealand and Australia, for nine years in each location. Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Today solely revolved around packing. Between a store run for more boxes and 400 square feet of bubble wrap (yes, it's insane), we did nothing but work on the move today. Everyone is exhausted, the twins were whiny and cranky, my brother and sister were trying to keep each other quiet but their "shhhhh" was louder than their talking, my mom and I have a headache, and even the dogs are tired. Boy, am I ready for bed! |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well.
