Today was a pretty long day. From going out early to watch my little sisters at gymnastics, to going swimming at the house of family friends, I’m wiped out after the weekend and today’s events. I’ll keep my post short and sweet tonight since I’m too tired to think of a big topic to write about.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Being the oldest of six (currently seven) kids can be the best thing in the world, but it can also be a pain in the butt. Or maybe I should say I pain in the head… Today we had a wonderful day out with the whole family, hanging out with friends again, and really enjoying the beautiful summer day. I absolutely love watching my siblings have fun while we’re out, especially watching my youngest sisters learning how to swim. However, being around so many people can really give you a headache. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today my family went to the house of some good friends to go swimming for the day. It’s really nice when we get to spend time with them, because all of the parents have fun with each other, I can hang out with my friend (who’s 18), and my littlest sisters have fun playing with the little boys in this family. Everyone enjoys each other’s company, even if there isn’t a person to hang out with who’s exactly the same age. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
The other day, I wrote about how diverse a foster or adoptive family can be. Today, I thought I would elaborate on what my family is like. I want people to know that it’s okay to look completely different than the rest of your family members; it makes you unique and each person is special in their own right. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I finally did it… I told my mom and one of my brothers about starting this blog. I felt like, while I’m telling my story, they’re a big part of it; I didn’t want to talk about anything that would make someone uncomfortable. My dad wasn’t home when I spoke to them, so I can’t wait to grab a minute alone with him as well. While I certainly wouldn’t hide this blog from my other siblings, I feel like they’re all just not old enough to understand the specifics of what I’m writing about, so I don’t need to have a long talk with them just yet. Can you picture that one family, you know, the one family that everyone knows in which all members look exactly alike? Sometimes it’s a little creepy how similarly family members look to one another. Well in a foster family, or a family that has adopted children, often brothers and sisters don’t look alike, or look like their parents. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today’s post is about my bedroom, which probably sounds a little weird… Think about your bedroom for just a minute. Do you live in a room by yourself? Do you share with a sister or brother? If you share a room, you probably understand the feeling of needing a minute of alone time. It happens to everyone; you have been with your siblings or friends or classmates all day long, and you just want a minute to go in your room, shut the door, and block everyone out. It can be hard to do that when you share a bedroom with a sibling. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
So tonight I’d like to really thank those of you that have stopped by to read my blog. When I sign into my account, I can see how many people have viewed my posts, and I’m really excited to say that I’ve had over 10 people visit since I launched the page less than a week ago! Welcome back to Taylor Talks.
Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. I have realized that fitting in the time to write a long post every day is pretty difficult in my house, and it will only become harder once classes begin at the end of the month. I may wind up writing on a few days a week, or even once a week, depending on what my schedule is like. I may not have any set posting schedule, and just write whenever I have some free time. I’ll just have to see how things go… Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
It’s a little after 10pm, and this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and write all day. It’s been pretty busy around here… |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well.
