Here we are, Sunday night, and I'm already wishing it was the weekend again.... we're all so exhausted in my house because my little sisters wake up before sunrise each day.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
People always ask for advice when they are at the beginning of their foster care journey. They want to know what to expect from people who have been through it already. I saw a post on one of the Facebook pages that I'm on today that asked for some advice as the woman was going through the final stage of becoming a licensed foster parent. For a week in which there was a day off from school, it certainly felt like it's taken forever to get to Friday! I can't even imagine what next week is going to feel like when there is an entire week of school again. The kids have had Mondays off two weeks in a row now, and it's going to be a shock when they only have a two-day weekend this time. And yes, you're right, I'm not the one going to school, so it shouldn't be tiring me out, but I do set my alarm for 6:30am every school day to help my mom with the twins, so I'm exhausted too. Tonight's Foster Parent Friday interview comes from another blogger who's located in Utah, Mary M. Her blog discusses her personal experiences with foster care and adoption as a mother, and I have to say that it's a beautiful blog. Mary also has a running list of other foster and adoptive blogs on her site, which may be of interest to those of you who are trying to collect as much information as possible about the fostering journey before embarking on your own adventure. Yesterday, I wrote about how much work caseworkers do with each foster child's case. We've dealt with many caseworkers over the course of our time as a foster family. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I've been spending a lot of time lately writing about my daily life and discussing matters that don't have much to do with foster care. As you know, I moved to Florida two months ago, and I feel like this blog has become a way for me to keep loved ones back in New York informed about what's happening in our lives. That being said, I want to take some time to focus on a topic related to foster care tonight. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight was the last night of my first sign language session! The past six weeks have just flown by! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was kind of a weird day for me. A lot was going on in my life, and I was having kind of an emotional day in many different respects. I decided to try to make myself feel better by coming up with a list of things about myself that I think make me special. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today is National Grandparents' Day, which is basically a day to honor your grandparents and tell them how much they mean to you. I feel like I've heard about this day in past years, but for some reason, it seems to have received a lot more attention this year. Then again, maybe I'm just paying more attention this year. Either way, I wanted to recognize this day in honor of the grandparents I've been fortunate to call my own. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Do you ever feel guilty for abandoning a project for a little while? I'm starting to get angry with myself for not working on my novel. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today marks the fourteenth anniversary of a tragic day in our nation's history, the attacks of 9/11/2001. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
