I was talking to my mom last night, somewhat about this blog, somewhat about memories of our experience, and somewhat about our family friends who have started doing foster care. I love when we are able to sit and talk together, even if we need to wait until late at night when all of the kids have fallen asleep. I was especially thankful for the time we got to talk together last night, because yet again, one of my little sisters was up sick. At least this sister, unlike her twin a few weeks ago, was able to throw up in a bucket, instead of all over my mom… (did I forget to mention that story?? Yeah, that was fun. Calm cries of “someone come help” coming from my mom while everyone else was in a different room, and when we all got out there, she was holding my little sister who was just a little fountain of joy all over my mom. As lovely as it was that we could all work together as a team and help the two of them out though, I was thrilled that we weren’t going through that again last night!)

First of all, I’d like to say a big thank you to the people who have left me comments on my blog posts! I really appreciate having people read my posts, and reading comments from people truly makes me feel good. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Homework has been kicking my butt this week (yes, even though classes have ended, I’m still working on homework)… I’m completely exhausted and can’t think straight, so I’m going to keep this post short. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I can breathe a little easier… I’m done with college classes! Not just for the semester, not just for the year, but I am done with undergraduate college classes forever! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I thought that I would share the video that I completed today for my sign language final presentation. Just as I did for my midterm project, I chose to translate a song into American Sign Language. For this video, I combined my love of sign language with my love of Broadway, and translated a song from Rogers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” Just click on the video below to see the final product! This morning was the big project that we’ve been planning for a while now…. we had to take pictures for our annual Christmas cards. Well actually, we never write “Merry Christmas” on them, unless we write “Happy Hanukkah” as well. We usually just stick to “Happy Holidays” or something like that, since we celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah, so I guess we could call them Holiday cards instead. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, my family had the opportunity to go over to the house of our family friends who have started doing foster care. We were able to meet the new little boy that they have living with them now. It was so sweet to see how the biological children connected with this little boy, and just from the brief amount of time we spent at their house, I could see that they’re all going to make a great foster family. Welcome back to Taylor Talks.
Today was the day. This morning, after all of my other siblings had left for school, I was the only one here with my mom when my littlest sister walked out of our front door for the last time. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Yesterday, some good family friends of ours officially joined the foster care family “club” because they took in their first placement! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today marks one month since my birthday, which means that I have been 21 years old for 30 days. In those 30 days, I have had exactly 3 sips of alcohol, all of which disgusted me. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
