Tonight is a celebration of my parents: their 26th wedding anniversary! Alright, so they didn't do anything romantic, but I'm still impressed that they've been together for so long and are still going strong.

Tonight's topic is housekeeping... no, not like having a maid come clean your house. That would be great though, wouldn't it? I'm sure that my mom would appreciate that! No, the housekeeping I'm referring to would be housekeeping notes; catching up and getting people all on the same page. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I would like to begin tonight's post with a little shout-out to a reader, Sierra. Hello Sierra, and thanks for reading! Sierra commented on yesterday's post to let me know that she had found my blog and read through every single post from beginning to most recent. It was incredible to hear from her, and it made me feel really good to know that she appreciated my blog. She said that my blog was really helpful for her to read, because her family is beginning the process to become a licensed foster family, and I thought that it was great that I could provide some useful information for her to read. I'm also really impressed that she went all the way back to the beginning when she found Taylor Talks and read every single post! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
If anyone read my post from yesterday, you may have noticed that my mom commented on what I wrote about respite care. She took some time to clarify what I was writing about so that everyone reading the post would fully understand respite care. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, I was teaching my students about primary documents. I was explaining the difference between primary and secondary sources, and I thought about my own primary source for my life: this blog. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'd like to officially welcome you to the new home of Taylor Talks, taylortalks.net! I am so excited to make this move and have the blog on a new, more reliable, website. I hope that anyone reading the blog will find the transition to this site easy and worthwhile. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, my blog is six months old, and I just can’t believe how time has flown by! Writing a post each day has become so much a part of my life that I find myself thinking about it constantly. When funny things happen during the day, I think about how I might be able to work them into a post. If anything sparks an old memory, I jot down a note for myself so that I remember to write about it later. When I started this blog, I never imagined that it would become such an important part of my daily routine. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Some of you may be wondering why this post has such a specific title… I’ve been writing this blog for over five months, so why in the world would I suddenly be welcoming people? Well, the truth is that even though I had told my parents and I’m pretty sure my mom had told a friend of hers or two, I hadn’t told anyone else about my little project. So now, as I’m sure you bright people have figured out, all of my family and friends now know about this blog. Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by! My mom actually asked me if it would be okay to share the link to Taylor Talks on her Facebook account today. I had just never decided to share it, not because it was a secret, but because most people already know a lot about my life, and I guess I was a little afraid that no one would be interested in what I had to say outside of my Facebook posts once in a while. Well, it’s time to “let it go” (yeah, I did it… You’re welcome for having that stuck in your head for the next three hours), and welcome all of the new readers. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I thought that it might be helpful to have a post right here on the Important Posts page about how to interact with the blog. There are two different ways to have your voice heard. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I hope you’ll forgive me, but I’m still exhausted from the hospital stay, sick twins, sleeping on a floor for two nights, and the chaos that we came home to. I’m hoping to be back to regular blog posts within a day or two. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
