I am so excited about this picture book that I'm working on! I can't believe that I'm really moving forward with this book, and that I'm illustrating it myself!
Since yesterday, I've completed a quarter of the illustrations for the book! I've been chugging away at my desk, completely focused, and I'm actually accomplishing a lot of work. I really wish that I had decided to draw these illustrations a few months ago, because this is a great project to work on while the kids are all at school, and maybe I wouldn't have been so bored or lazy since we moved down here. It's a lot of fun to work on these illustrations, even if it's challenging at the same time.
I think one of the most challenging parts of illustrating, or writing for that matter, is trying to get work done after the kids are home from school. I can't even explain how much of my night consisted of trying to back the twins away from my desk so papers and pencils wouldn't go flying. The girls were so excited to see what I was drawing that they kept trying to climb on top of me to see the illustrations.
I'm really hoping that this book will turn out well and that it will become something that my little sisters enjoy reading with me. I'm also hoping that it will become something that other young children will enjoy reading with their older siblings, parents, or grandparents. This is just the beginning of my career as an author, and I'm looking forward to creating many books for people to enjoy!
Thank you so much for your continued support! I look forward to sharing more stories about my experience with foster care, and hopefully hearing from readers who have questions or similar stories to share. I'm always willing to answer questions and hear about other experiences! Please don't forget to like and share my Facebook author page as well!
