The Good, The Bad, and The Crazy

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Somehow, if you can believe it, I actually got a few minutes to myself tonight! I'm sitting outside the RV at the picnic table all alone, and have plenty of time to write my post for today. My mom and three sisters are all in bed already, and my dad and brother should almost be on their way back from a laundry & store run. So since I have a little time to myself, I thought I'd catch everyone up on all of the chaos that we've encountered over the past few days that hasn't been included in my daily posts.
Let's start with the good... Everyone always likes the good news first, right? Today we saw four different houses. Well, us kids only saw three. One house seemed like a no-go as soon as we saw the layout of the outside, so we didn't waste time bringing all of the kids in. However, the first house that we saw today had a ton of potential! It was definitely a bit of a fixer-upper (an abandoned home), but there was so much that my mom and I could envision that it's definitely a possibility. There were four bedrooms, plus a room that we could convert into a bedroom for me, two sun rooms in the front of the house that could turn into a guest bedroom area when we have people visiting, and a huge mud room/play room area that we could fix up. There's plenty of space in the backyard to put in a pool, and there's a nice front yard where we could have a swing set for the kids. There's a lot of possibility with this house, so we were really excited after seeing it. My parents were talking about the potential of another house that we saw, but I didn't like that one as much. It just didn't feel as open as the first house and everything seemed cramped. But at least we were able to look at some places!

Now onto the bad of the trip... Wow, did we start off with a lot of bad! We left home about four hours later than we wanted to so we hadn't even made it out of New Jersey that first night. Plus, my dad ended up getting sick while he was driving and had to pull off to the side of the highway to throw up! Talk about bad news! We thought we were going to have to cancel the whole trip and head right back home on Day 2! But after my mom drove the rest of the way until we found a rest area to sleep for the night, my dad was able to lay down and by the time we woke up the next morning, he was much better. What I didn't realize until today was that my mom also threw up while we were driving, but she didn't need to stop the whole RV to throw up on the side of the road... It's nice to have a bathroom in your vehicle! Then I got a cold (or what I'm now thinking is a sinus infection) the morning of the day we left. I was attached to the hip with the tissue box for the first two days, and although I'm not as stuffy now, my head is still spinning. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the fact that I woke up on Day 2 with a mysterious wound in my thumb. I must have stabbed myself with my nail in the middle of the night and not realized it. I'm still waiting for it to heal and stop hurting. Yikes! It's amazing how much has gone wrong on this trip... And that's not all! {whoa, felt like a commercial there haha} Today, we were trying to reorganize the RV because we were having trouble finding everything that we had packed... My mom realized she forgot her hair straightener and blow dryer at home. That's never good. Then she was washing some fruit to pack away in the fridge. The water wasn't running for too long, but then suddenly we realized that the whole place was flooding out! Somehow the water tank was filling up too quickly and it backed up into the shower! Oh my goodness, I used up three rolls of paper towels mopping up that water. My little brother helped me wipe everything down, and luckily it was just the floor that had gotten wet, not any furniture. But the bad news was that we had stored our towels in the shower for the drive down, which meant that they were all soaked. Hence the reason for my dad and brother doing a laundry run at 10:00pm. My parents want us to have a beach day tomorrow, so we had to get all of the towels dried out.

As if all of that wasn't crazy enough, there actually was some real craziness last night. I think I mentioned last night that my mom and I had made a store run to pick up some things that we needed for the week. Well we also grabbed another pair of shorts for me, two new shirts for my mom, and then my mom wanted to see if she could get a new bra. Let me just tell you, bra shopping with your mom can get ugly real quickly! She took a bra off of the shelf and wanted to make sure it fit nicely. The fitting rooms were closed already because it was so late, so she pulled the bra on right over her shirt in the middle of the aisle!!! I was so shocked that I couldn't even form real words! It was so embarrasing, but luckily no one walked by! Leave it to my mom to do something crazy like that though! Sheesh! Now that was definitely crazy!

Alright, I guess that's about all of the good, bad, and crazy that I've experienced so far. Just think, it's only Tuesday! And with tomorrow being April Fools' Day, I'm almost afraid to see what happens next! Hopefully everyone has forgotten what day of the week and month we're on haha!

I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.

Thanks!
Taylor

Aww, thanks Mrs. Hastings! I know, I feel like I need to get back to my foster care posts, but I just can't resist sharing about our trip. After all, everything I write about ties back into family, so what better way to explain what my family is like than through my experiences stuck in an RV with them?! Haha! Thanks for reading!
