Welcome to Taylor Talks! My name is Taylor Faith Krigsman, and I'm very excited to be starting this new blog.
First, I'd like to introduce myself. You can certainly get a quick synopsis of who I am on the "About Taylor" page, but here's a little more information...
I'm twenty years old, my favorite color is purple (as if you couldn't tell!), and I'm from a small town in NY. I will be starting my senior year of college next month. I major in Early Childhood/Childhood Education with a concentration in English. I also minor in Deaf Studies. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and look forward to continuing on to get my Master's in Special Education. I also look forward to achieving my goal of becoming a published author someday. I currently run a business called Taylor's Tales, in which I write personalized children's books. Between writing these stories and now starting this blog, I'm hoping that I will gain some writing experience that can help me in writing future books.
So now why have I chosen to begin blogging? What do I hope to accomplish? Well for starters, I'm looking forward to reliving old memories as I write about them, and I think it will be good to have a goal of writing at least once a week (hopefully more!). I usually try to set a goal for myself of writing a little bit everyday, but with classes and life always getting in the way, I think I need an actual project to force me into writing more often. But I have another hope for this blog as well... I know that I'm not the only biological child who has grown up with foster siblings and adopted siblings. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine (who's eighteen) has parents who are going through the process of becoming certified to do foster care right now. We've had a few discussions about how it feels to welcome new kids into your home, and some of the experiences that I've had in the past with the foster care system. I would love to be able to share these experiences with other people who are either already the bio kid in a foster family, or are just beginning the journey, or even parents who have younger children and would like to hear about another bio kid's experiences. Though I don't quite know how to share this blog with the world just yet, I'm hoping that I'll be able to spread the word and share my thoughts and feelings with anyone who is interested in reading them.
If anyone has stuck with me through this first blog post, I'd like to thank you for learning more about me and the direction I want to take this blog in. I look forward to writing much more in the future, and sharing the thoughts of the bio kid in a foster family! I'd greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you're sharing on Twitter, don't forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.
Thanks!
Taylor
