Wow, I felt so good today with my writing! I felt this sudden spark of inspiration and accomplished a little something on my novel.
I knew what I wanted to happen at this point in the story, but I didn't know exactly how I wanted it to happen. So I decided that I didn't need to write in order and I skipped a chunk of the book. I skipped ahead to the middle of the chapter and found something inside of me that I needed to make something special happen.
It's hard to get a lot of writing done at once because there's always something going on over here, but I was really happy with what I was able to do. I think that the few paragraphs I accomplished today have put me back on the right track, and I'm excited to keep chugging along now.
Sometimes I get discouraged when I can't find the words I need in order to write more in my novel, because I have all of these great plot points inside of me but they won't come out and appear on my computer screen. You can't just have a series of plot points in bullet points along your page; that doesn't make a novel. So I continue to search within myself (and often find myself holding conversations in my head) in order to figure out exactly how I can word my story. When I can write even a few paragraphs that really make me happy, then I have something that I can grasp onto that shows me that I'm doing alright. I'm on my way to finishing this novel. It's all inside of me and it's coming along, I just can't give up.
Now I just hope that I can find time to sit and type over the weekend! I don't want my inspiration to slip away!
