Today, I surprisingly ended up having the opportunity to talk about foster care for quite a while! I wasn't expecting it, because it happened at the sign language class I was teaching.

Do you ever just feel restless and don't know what to do with yourself? Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Earlier this month, I wrote about getting back in touch with a former foster sister. For some reason, I found myself thinking about this today. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Happy birthday to my dad! Wow, today was a fantastic day, and everything really turned out well for our little party! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I've got lots going on tonight because we're preparing for a little party tomorrow in honor of my dad's birthday! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Last week, I went on Facebook and put out an all-call for anyone interested in doing a Foster Parent Friday interview for me. I had run out of interviews to showcase, and was hoping that I wouldn't have to put an end to the interview series just yet. To my surprise, I received a question in response: What if we haven't been a foster parent for very long? Amanda Blakely, who lives in Texas, is new to being a foster parent, and wasn't sure if I only wanted to showcase experiences from foster parents who have been caring for a long time. Actually, I was excited for the opportunity to post the perspective of a new foster mother, because I think that someone like Amanda would be the easiest person for future or new foster parents to relate to. For the first time in over two months, I saw one of my friends today... and it was awesome! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Well I have certainly become the bearer of bad news over the past few nights... tonight my heart is with my very best friend's family as they had to put their dog to sleep today. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
First off, I want to mention something that I'm doing with the blog. I've been going back to the start of my blogging journey and changing categories on the posts to make them more easily found. If you look at the right of any blog page, you'll see a menu with a list of categories, such as About My Family or Sign Language. By clicking on any of those categories, you'll be brought directly to posts tagged under each heading. However, when I started blogging, I wasn't really sure what category to put posts in, and each post was only labeled with one heading. I've been going back to add all categories applicable to each post, so that it will be easier to find what you're looking for. This will probably take me quite a while to finish, as I'm only up to posts from October 2014, but I'll get through them all eventually! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
How would you explain foster care to a young child? I was only three when we started taking in children, and there was no way that my parents were telling a three-year-old about the harsh realities of why children are placed into foster care. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
