Tonight is a celebration of my parents: their 26th wedding anniversary! Alright, so they didn't do anything romantic, but I'm still impressed that they've been together for so long and are still going strong.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'd like to start out tonight by recognizing that my blog is nine months old! I can't believe how much has happened since I launched Taylor Talks in July! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I thought I would talk a little bit about caseworkers. Each time you take in a foster child, you deal with at least two caseworkers. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
This is my last week having complete control of the kindergarten classroom, and the teacher with whom I'm working is letting me handle everything now. I feel like I really experienced what being a true teacher was like today. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I had my first book reading.... okay, so maybe it wasn't in public, and my novel isn't even completed, much less published, but I read my first three chapters to my parents tonight. The good news is that they both enjoyed it! I was glad that I finally had the opportunity to get their opinions on it. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was a wonderful day filled with good sportsmanship, competition, and proud family and friends. Today was the 2015 Special Olympics for our area! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
When you adopt a child, they take on your last name and become part of your family. This name change is extremely important for kids, especially when it comes to school. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'll do my best to ensure that my writing makes sense tonight, but you'll have to bear with me as I'm still in shock after watching one of my favorite shows, Grey's Anatomy. The good news is that at least my mouth has finally gone back to normal after hanging open for most of an hour-long episode. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Do you ever get really frustrated about something and just wonder why it's happening? Well there can definitely be some frustration in foster care, though you might be surprised to realize that it has nothing to do with the kids. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Have you ever heard foster care mentioned in the news? Or seen a movie where kids go into foster care? The majority of the media shows foster care in a negative light. |
About
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well.
