Wow, I can't believe that it's the last day of August! Where has the month gone? It seems like just yesterday we were moving into our new house in the middle of July, and yet we've been here for a month and a half already.
Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
The other day, I wrote about how we came up with names for our dogs, and I mentioned that I would have to share the story behind my name. I figured that I would take the opportunity to share my name story tonight. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
To say that I'm exhausted would be an understatement! I babysat for eight hours today, and while it was a great experience, it completely wiped me out. Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Wow, this week has just flown by! Another week of school is over for my siblings, which meant another week filled with pretty imaginative reasons for why the kids should be able to stay home instead of going to classes. It also means another week of new experiences here in Florida. For example, as I type (in my room with the door shut), my mom and my aunt's best friend (who came over for Chinese Food Friday) are in the living room trying to catch a lizard that came in for some cupcakes... yikes! I liked holding the little guy outside, but do not come into our house!! That reminds me, twice now, I have had lizards hitchhiking on my car. The other day, I saw it in my side mirror. I opened the window to take a picture of it (a picture of the mirror reflecting the lizard on the back door) but then the lizard came right up to the window! Luckily my sister got out of the passenger seat and went around to get the lizard away. I flipped out and jumped from the driver's seat into the passenger seat and got out that door! Then today I saw a lizard actually sitting on the side mirror, hanging on for a ride... it's crazy how many lizards are down here! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
On the foster family pages that I'm part of on Facebook, I often see posts from people who are either interested in doing foster care, or are going through the process to start their journey. They want to know about other people's experiences, and about what they can expect as they become a foster family. Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Is this not a gorgeous rainbow? My dad came home from work today and the rain was just clearing up. He asked my mom and me if we had seen the rainbow and pointed it out. I'm pretty sure it was the first rainbow we've seen since we got here. It was so clear right behind our house, and it brought a smile to my face. It rains every day here during the summer, but this was the first time that it ended in such a beautiful display. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I feel like I'm finally starting to put down roots here in Florida! Things are suddenly starting to come together, kind of like when you get the frame of a puzzle done and you can begin to see where the rest of the pieces fit. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I thought that I'd keep it short with a story of a short-term placement that we had when I was a little girl. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
We're having a much more low-key night compared to last night's craziness... unless you count Twin A's sudden bout of the giggles after we went out to dinner. That was, as Twin B has taken to saying, a "bit" silly. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Just when you think that things couldn't possibly get any worse, of course that's when they suddenly get worse. Boy, was our night surprisingly eventful, and not in a good way! |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
