Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

I had my weekly fieldwork today, in which I work in a sixth grade classroom to observe an English/Social Studies teacher throughout the day. While I spend a good majority of the time observing or asking students if they need help with the work that they are doing, I am given the opportunity to help with some different projects once in a while.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Happy two month anniversary to my blog!

I can’t believe that I have been blogging for two months already… time has just flown by! Since I’ve started this blog, the summer has ended, my senior year of college has begun, we’ve celebrated birthdays, and visited extended family. It has been a crazy two months for sure.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Today is my dad’s birthday! We thought that we wouldn’t see him today, since he would get home from work and be asleep before we all got home from the wake, but he ended up taking off the day to go to the wake with us. It’s certainly not the most fun way to celebrate a birthday, but at least he was with us and all of our extended family. Since the wake was held only a few minutes away from where my dad’s aunt and uncle live, we also got to stop by to see them for a little while, which was nice because we don’t see them very often.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Tonight, we received some sad news from extended family. An extended family member lost her husband last night. It is incredibly sad news for her family, because she has a five-year-old and one-year-old daughter at home. They will be growing up without their father.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Yesterday, I briefly mentioned something about my littlest sister going on visits with her mom every week. I don’t think that I’ve ever explained how visits work with foster kids, so I thought I would take a minute and explain these visits.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

I’ve been discussing the current situation that we are in with my two-year-old foster sister, and I thought I would continue on with this line of writing. After speaking about my own feelings in this case, I thought that it only seemed right to discuss the position that my little sister is in.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Yesterday, I wrote about what’s going on with my little sister’s foster care case. We really have no idea if she’ll eventually become a permanent member of the family or if she’ll be going home to her mother. I wrote about the facts; I didn’t talk about my feelings on the matter.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

I’ve been thinking a lot about the current situation that my family is in with my two-year-old foster sister, and I thought I’d share a little about what’s been running through my mind.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Today, I wanted to share a special writing that I did about my mom. I’ve been sharing these short paragraphs that I’ve written about each of my family members little by little, because I’m hoping that they can help people understand how great my family really is.

    About

    Picture
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
