Today, my mom and I took my littlest sisters to a birthday party. It was so nice to see them play and have fun with the friends that they made last year in preschool. Though they are all in separate classes this year, and even split between morning & afternoon kindergarten, it is clear that the bonds they formed are strong as ever. The moms (and a grandma) of the kids are also close friends, and I love seeing all of them. (By the way, special shout out to the CMC!! I know some of you have been reading these posts!!)

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'd like to officially welcome you to the new home of Taylor Talks, taylortalks.net! I am so excited to make this move and have the blog on a new, more reliable, website. I hope that anyone reading the blog will find the transition to this site easy and worthwhile. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, my blog is six months old, and I just can’t believe how time has flown by! Writing a post each day has become so much a part of my life that I find myself thinking about it constantly. When funny things happen during the day, I think about how I might be able to work them into a post. If anything sparks an old memory, I jot down a note for myself so that I remember to write about it later. When I started this blog, I never imagined that it would become such an important part of my daily routine. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Do you ever just have one of those days where you question all of your life choices, your past, the future you’re heading toward, and even why you got out of bed that morning? One of those days during which you work so hard to not cry all day, but by the time you get home, you just burst into tears? Yeah, I’m having one of those days. It’s been a rough one, but it’s almost over, so that’s good. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Well, where we live, the blizzard was a big bust. We got an inch or so of snow… the kids were so disappointed (and so was I!). Not that I wanted a whole lot of snow or anything, but it would have been fun to get a little something… Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
If you’re like me, and you live in the northeast, your family has probably been preparing for the big blizzard that’s coming our way tomorrow. Now, my family isn’t completely crazed like some other people we’ve seen… I mean, it’s just a snowstorm, it’s not like the world is coming to an end. We just made sure grocery shopping was done over the weekend, and we’re stocked up on flashlight batteries just in case. Hopefully everyone is overreacting for nothing, and it won’t be as bad as we all think it’s going to be. But better safe than sorry, right? Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Often, foster parents need to go above and beyond in their duties to stand up for and protect their foster children. We realized this very early on in our foster care journey, when my mom had to look out for my little brother. Now, in order to respect his privacy, I won’t go into detail about what exactly my mom had to fight about, but I will talk about what some problems are with looking out for foster children. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, I was looking through some old computer files… I found a poem that I wrote in eighth grade, and it’s something that I’ve modified over the years as my family has changed. I thought that I would share it tonight, because I think it speaks to what my family is truly all about. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
As you may remember from my post, “Welcome to the Club!,” some family friends have recently started doing foster care as well. Being new to the system, my mom’s friend checks in with her once in a while about the way things are supposed to go with a new foster child. This can be anything from how to comfort them in their first week, to how the involvement of DSS works. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
What is the bedtime situation in your house? In our house, we’ve always had pretty strict bedtimes… |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
