Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I’ve written before about the visits that foster children go on with their biological parents. Normally, this is just a time when the parents and children can get together each week, and they go to the DSS offices or maybe to a park in the nice weather. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
The blog is three months old today! I never would have guessed that I would make it to three months when I first started this over the summer. I mean, I had hoped that I would be able to stick with it, and that eventually this would become a big deal in some way, but I know myself, and I know that I have a problem with sticking to things. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
The other day, I was writing about where children go when they leave our home. I mentioned that one of my foster siblings unfortunately had to go to another foster home after she lived with us. That was the only case in which this happened; everyone else was either adopted or went home after they stayed here. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
A few days ago, it was my sister’s birthday. Well, the first year that she lived with us, we didn’t celebrate her birthday that day. We were given the wrong information from DSS, and we celebrated her birthday a few days later than we should have. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, my family went out to the movie theater. We rarely have a day where we all go to a movie like that, so it was a fun experience (even though my dad fell asleep at the end!). We also went with some of the kids’ friends, and I drove home with them. Their grandmother, who had gone with us as well, was asking me about foster care. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I know, you’re probably all sick of my Broadway talk after my post from yesterday, but I just have to talk about something else Broadway related… Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Yesterday, I wrote about the special surprise that my sister and I are getting for our birthdays, a trip to see Aladdin on Broadway. We do live in New York State, so trips to Broadway aren’t extremely rare for us, but we have been wanting to see Aladdin since before it opened. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Well, it’s official… today was “the best birthday ever!” According to the birthday girl anyway. But she literally says that every single year, so it’s hard to judge! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I’m keeping this post very short tonight because it’s just about midnight and I need to go to bed. I have been up decorating a cake all night, because I wasn’t home all day. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
