If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you may have already seen the huge news that I released earlier today. In case you missed it, here's the announcement that I posted...
Surprise! While the world has been stuck at home, I've been working on a brand new book! For the first time, I've teamed up with an incredible illustrator to bring children a book that will give them hope and comfort during this strange, difficult time...
In the past, I've shared bits and pieces of book details as I worked on them, but this time was different. It was the first time that I had paired up with an illustrator instead of doing the pictures myself. I wasn't sure how that would go, or how long it would take, and it was kind of weird needing to rely on another person. I've worked with Ashlynn for quite a while though, so I've seen her artwork in the past and absolutely love everything that she does. I knew that I would be pleased with the illustrations she designed, so I asked her if she would do the honors for me.
What do you think? Adorable, right?
So now you're probably asking what the story is about, right? Well here is the information that I released with this illustration for today's preview...
Due for release in early May 2020, "The Way the World Changed: A Story of Hope During Pandemic" is written by Taylor Faith Krigsman and illustrated by Ashlynn Marie Lilly.
When the idea for this story came to me, I was thinking about all of the children who are stuck at home while we're in the midst of this pandemic. Kids are missing school, their teachers, their friends. They can't even go out to play with their neighbors or go to the parks... their little lives have completely changed, and they don't really understand the severity of what's going on around them. I wanted to create a story that showed children how important their help is as they stay at home to prevent the spread of germs. I want children to know that they're heroes too, and with Ashlynn's help, I believe that this story will touch many lives. Children will learn a great lesson from this story, while also getting a laugh at Mari's interactions with her little brother and dog.
We received so many positive comments from family and friends today. People were already looking forward to purchasing copies for their own children and grandchildren. It has been so wonderful to know that we have such support for this project already!
Once it's ready for release, "The Way the World Changed" will be available on Amazon and I'll leave a link here on my Books page as well! I hope that you'll help us share the word about this beautifully illustrated story so we can do our part to make the world a better place.
Thanks for reading!
