Life as a Writer, Disney World Cast Member, and
Big Sister through Foster Care & Adoption
Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
One of my favorite hobbies is baking! I absolutely love to bake, and always enjoy trying out new recipes. A few months ago, I was asked to make a smash cake for a first birthday party that will be coming up in two weeks. The child has some allergies, not too different from my little sisters, so I decided to tweak a recipe that I have for them to make this birthday cake. I wanted to try it out ahead of time, to make sure that it came out well, so I had the opportunity to bake a little after dinner.
I think that the recipe came out pretty well, but I have to take my parents’ words for it. I am such a picky eater, that I rarely try my own creations. I need to go on what other people say to know if I need to make something more moist or if something is too sweet. Both my mom and dad told me that the cake tasted pretty good, and I was happy with how everything turned out. I’m really excited to whip up a new cake in two weeks, and hopefully it will come out just as well.
I didn’t get to work on my decorative skill tonight, because it got too late, but I’m hoping to have some time to work on decorating during the week. I’m always looking to improve on my baking and decorating skills.
Do you enjoy baking? Do you have recipes that you love? Share them with me, and check out my Baking board on Pinterest of recipes that I look forward to trying!

My family has been doing foster care since I was three years old. I'm the only biological child in my family, though I now have five permanent siblings. Having nineteen siblings over the course of my lifetime has been an incredible experience, and I'm hoping that by sharing some of the ups and downs of being the only bio kid in a foster family, other foster families or people looking into doing foster care will be able to learn a bit of what life can be like. I also like to share what life is like on my journey to becoming a published author, as well as where my schooling and career choice are taking me.
