Happy birthday to my amazing mom!
We had quite the busy morning, so we couldn't do anything to acknowledge her birthday right away. I was teaching a sign language class, and my mom was taking my sister back to the audiologist for a follow-up test. Speaking of, the first test was definitely correct. Now we just wait for the ENT appointment and then the process begins to get her hearing aids! Also, both of the twins are picking up sign language really well so far and have a huge interest in learning more, so we're really excited to move forward in teaching them.
After all kids were at school and I was done with sign language, I literally pulled my car into the garage, jumped out and got into my mom's car (she was already waiting in the driveway for me), and we headed out again. We had to pick up a surprise birthday present for my brother, whose birthday is just ten days after my mom's, and then we got to go out to lunch together.
It was so nice to go out to lunch just me and my mom... I feel like since I started working in December, we've only had the opportunity to go out to lunch or breakfast once or twice, which used to be a nice treat every once in a while when I was home all of the time. It was great to go out today, especially for my mom's birthday.
After everyone was home, we enjoyed a nice evening at the house. The girls helped me make frosting for the birthday cake, and ate most of it before I could finish decorating the cake. Since I had to work around little hands jutting in front of me, the cake wasn't as perfect as I would have liked, but it still came out pretty nice. The girls had decided that they wanted to make a flower cake, and I even showed them how to sign "flower," "cake," and "Happy Birthday," in sign language, which they were excited to show my mom.
The only bad thing about tonight? One of our favorite Dancing With The Stars contestants went home. But hey, I guess you can't have everything, right?
Happy birthday, Mom! Hope you enjoyed your weekend... I love you!
