Day at Downtown Disney

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

For the first time in over two months, I saw one of my friends today... and it was awesome!
My friend's dad had a work conference happening down in Orlando, so she and her parents were staying at one of the Disney hotels. Today, her dad was finished with work early in the day, so I went down to Orlando this afternoon and met up with the three of them. I had never met her parents before, but they were so incredibly nice! I felt right at home with them, and they were sweet enough to treat me to lunch.

We went to Downtown Disney, which was awesome. I've been there before with my family, but I've never walked around the whole area before... it was way bigger than I thought it was! We walked around in a bunch of shops, took some pictures, and got to talk. Of course, I had to crop the pictures, since I never put up pictures of anyone else for privacy reasons, but I'm glad we took some pictures together to remember today by.

I didn't realize how much I really missed my friends until I had the opportunity to see one of them again. I'm so glad that my friend had time to see me while she was down here, and that I was able to meet up with her. It was so nice to catch up in person, rather than trying to text long messages back and forth about how her senior year is going or how I'm adjusting to life in Florida.

I even made it home in time to say good night to all of my siblings, which was nice. One of my little sisters was concerned about me being outside in the dark by myself, while my mom wasn't even sure if the other twin knew that I was gone all day! She must have been very busy playing and watching movies, I guess! But at least I got good night hugs from both of them, and got to say good night to my brother and sister.

We tried on fancy hats, took pictures around Downtown Disney, & got caught in a downpour!

Hi Taylor. I just found your blog today and I'm so glad I did. I wish you all the best in your writing and teaching. My wife and I hope to become foster parents and possibly adopt from foster care and we have 2 biological daughters that are 1 and 8 years old right now. My Mom regularly comments that our becoming a foster family could have a negative impact on our biological daughters and while I think there will be both pros and cons for our daughters, I'm so glad to be able to read your first hand experience having foster siblings since you were 3. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi Melissa, thanks so much for writing to me! I'm so glad that you found my blog, and I really hope that you will get a lot out of it. Do you mind if I ask how you came across it? I've been wondering if it comes up with certain search terms.

I absolutely think that you should continue to look into fostering, no matter what anyone else says. While, of course, it's important to respect the opinions of family and friends, your immediate family members are the people you need to be focusing on.

I can tell you from personal experience that I wouldn't be half the person I am today if it hadn't been for us becoming a foster family. I have truly learned so much from taking in children that has affected me in all areas of life. For example, seeing what drugs and alcohol do to infants in the womb has directly impacted me in that I'm going to be 22 soon and yet I've only had a handful of sips of alcohol in my life, and I've never tried any drugs. I've also learned to look beyond the child in front of me and realize that they may be facing problems in their life that are beyond their control, which helps a lot in the classroom.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or want to hear about how something has affected me. I wish you and your family all the best and hope that you do continue to learn about foster care and become a foster family!

My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
