With all of the excitement last week and the craziness that erupted after my Facebook post, I neglected to mention something else that happened to me!
At Disney World, there is a magazine that is published property-wide for Cast Members. On June 8th, I was absolutely honored to be featured in the magazine!
This magazine reaches over 65,000 Cast Members, and it is truly so special to be part of this issue. I never dreamed that I would be part of the magazine, no less after just eighteen months with the company!
Not only did I have an article written about me, but I also got to do an hour-long photo shoot! I felt like a celebrity... it was amazing!
Since I was given special permission to share the article, I took pictures of the magazine to include here. However, I'm not including it in its entirety. The photos of me are not going to be shared, since I'm in costume in the photos, and I've blocked out the name of my location anywhere it appears in the article. I've written before about working at Epcot, but I never post my specific location online. However, I hope you'll all still enjoy the article with those minor adjustments made...
Everyone at work keeps calling me a celebrity... someone hung the article up so that all of the people with whom I work have been able to see it. It's kind of weird to walk past it everyday, but it is so amazing to have my story shared in the magazine.
I really hope that reading my family's story will inspire some other Cast Members to look into foster care. To know that my family may impact the lives of other Cast Members like that is a really incredible feeling.
Although I would love to share the names of the people who made all of this possible, I don't want to put someone's name in public if they would rather remain private. However, I will say that I worked with an incredible writer (she was great during our interview and throughout the entire process of putting the article together), a wonderful photographer (who managed to capture a really good photo of me, despite the fact that I hate having my picture taken), and a Cast Member who oversees the entire process (who also helped out during the photo shoot and made me feel comfortable). The magazine has an amazing team!
I'd greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites.
