I cannot believe that I've finally hit this milestone, but today, December 1, 2020, I am proud to be celebrating my five "ear" anniversary with the Walt Disney Company!
Yesterday, I was able to drive down to Disney to pick up my five-year service pin for my name tag. The Cast Members who stood outside of the empty resort made me feel so special as I picked up this beautiful little pin; their clapping and cheering truly made the experience a great one. If I couldn't be with my work family today, that was the next best thing.
Taking Steamboat Willie off of my name tag and putting Pluto on in his place gave me such pride. I've been on one heck of a ride over the past five years... from the start of my journey at Epcot's Coral Reef Restaurant to almost nine months of furlough, I've done so much! I worked my way up from hostess to trainer to Relief Coordinator to full-time Coordinator. I've been at two different locations with the most incredible people; these people have truly become my family and I miss them all so much! I've made Magic for the sweetest Guests and have been lucky enough to have had Magic made in return.
It has been wonderful to work with people from so many different places. I've learned about other cultures, become buddies with people from other states, and I've made lasting friendships that have been able to stand the test of time and distance. I am so grateful for each and every person who has come into my life these last few years, because all of the good and the bad have taught me about myself, made me stronger, and provided me with some incredible memories.
I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that I'm with Disney for the long haul. I cannot wait to get back to making that Magic again...
...and I don't have to wait for long!
That's right!! I'm going back to work!
I am counting down the days until I'm back at Epcot because I finally got the call for which I've been longing since we shut down in March!
The call was a little different than I was expecting though. I'm not going back to my family quite yet. Instead, I'll be learning about a whole new side of the Park: the World Showcase! I'm not sure how long I'll be there quite yet, but despite the nerves, I'm excited to meet new people and learn about a new location.
I am so grateful to be going back to a job I love, even if it's in a slightly different capacity than I was expecting. As much as I have loved being home with my family since March, and I definitely did NOT miss my awful commute, I did miss being at Disney and welcoming families to one of my favorite places in the whole world.
So wish me luck... I'll be heading back to Epcot before you know it!
Thanks for reading!
