Whew! It has been quite the day! I just got off of what was supposed to be a 12 hour shift… I say supposed to be, only because I actually got there an hour early to go to costuming. So technically I was there for 13 hours.
I don't know if it's just the holiday spirit coming into season or what, but everyone seem to be in such an extremely good mood tonight. I specifically remember one family who came up to me and before I could even greet them, the father said to me, "Hi Taylor, I just want to start out with saying that you're awesome!" It was so sweet! And the best part about that specific family was that later on when they were leaving, they made sure to say good-bye to me and wish me a good evening, referring to me by name once again.
It doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but in a day filled with interactions with tons of strangers, it's kind of nice to be referred to by name once in a while. That family definitely made an impression on me, and our interaction wasn't even that long. I can only hope that throughout the rest of the holiday season I will come in contact with many more families who are filled with the holiday spirit and who want to have kind conversations with me. It really adds a lot of joy to my day.
Before I get off and head home for the evening, because yes, I'm sitting in the parking lot at work typing all of this, I just want to mention how excited I am that I actually finished my novella shortly after posting about it the other day. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have a lot of editing and revising to do, but the hard part is over… It's written and that's the biggest hurdle to get past. I can't wait until it's really finished and I can publish it and share it with everyone. It feels really good to have a project for an older audience than my children's books because it allowed me to cultivate my writing skills further.
