I had to use a title that gives a nod to one of my favorite Disney movies, of course, (you're welcome if you now have "Let It Go" stuck in your head), but this post has nothing to do with Disney or songs... I'm working on my new novel!
This new novel is unlike anything I've ever written before. Stylistically, I'm exploring new territory. I don't want to give away too much right now, since I'm still in the very early stages of writing this book, but I'm hopeful that this writing style will capture the attention of readers (not to mention literary agents and publishers) when it is eventually completed.
While I absolutely loved writing my first novel and continue to love the story as I edit and revise, this second novel has a different feel that is new and exciting. I can only hope that in the future, as I begin new writing projects, that each one can provide something new for me to love. I don't want to just write the same way or get stuck in a rut; I want to be able to learn and grow as I write and hopefully each project that I work on will be a little bit better than the one before it.
Of course, the one thing that would make all of my writing projects better would be a silent laptop... it sounds like my computer is preparing for a rocket launch! I have no idea why it is so loud and obnoxious, but it tends to pull me away from a good train of thought every once in a while. Plus, when it gets really loud, it feels like it's buzzing as well, so my fingers feel like they're going numb after a while. It's hard enough to find peace and quiet in my house; the least my laptop could do is quiet down when the rest of my house is calm!
Crazy computer or not, I'm happy with what I was able to accomplish on my new book today. I'm looking forward to working on more of it and discovering where this new writing style will take me. Wish me luck!
