It was an absolutely beautiful Sunday, and we had an awesome time going to our cousins' house for the day!
Though it had been bright and sunny throughout the hour and a half ride over, the sky turned dark and gloomy shortly after we arrived at their house, It just didn't appear that we would have a whole lot of time at the beach, so no one wanted to lug all of our belongings across the sand if we were going to have to pack up again right after we got there. Instead, we decided to just go swimming in our cousins' pool in their backyard, and we enjoyed ourselves there. Of course, we ended up staying for hours and it didn't rain until we were getting into the car to go home, but we can do the beach another day. At least we got to hang out with our cousins.
We realized that we've been seeing our cousins once a month...
- March: they came to our house for Easter
- April: we went to their house for the first time
- May: we all met up at Animal Kingdom
- June: we went to their house today
This has been going so well! Even though both of our families have been here since July, it took a while for us to get settled in and adjusted to our new lives. Once things calmed down a little, we've been making that effort to get together and I'm loving it. We live a little too far from each other to get together all of the time, but this whole once a month deal has been working out really nicely.
Everyone's already making plans for more times to get together... there's talk of birthday celebrations at Disney, holiday get-togethers, and of course the kids are talking about having sleepovers. They never want the fun to end! I just think it's so awesome that the kids are all going to grow up with fond memories of being with their cousins so often; I always wished that I had grown up like that, but my cousins lived too far from me.
I wish that I had taken pictures today, but sometimes you just need to live in the moment and enjoy yourself. I'll be sure to get pictures the next time we get together, but it's not like anyone's changing that much on a month-to-month basis. I mean, I know that kids grow fast, but not that fast! I'm really hoping that by the next time we get together though, we'll be able to see a change with Twin A having hearing aids. Those things can't get here fast enough! She's doing well with the sign language, but I can't wait until she can hear herself, and all of us, better.
