Life as a Writer, Disney World Cast Member, and
Big Sister through Foster Care & Adoption
Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Yesterday, I wrote about keeping busy with baking cupcakes for a little surprise party. Well today, with the help of my students, we pulled off a small surprise for the teacher I'm working with to celebrate her birthday! First of all, I was extremely pleased with how the cupcakes came out. I tried a new frosting idea that I had come up with a while ago and the kids at school loved them!
The students had asked me about doing something nice for the teacher since her birthday was last Friday, so we decided to plan this little surprise for her. I was so proud of the kids for keeping it a secret for two whole weeks! We almost didn't get to have the party because they were a little too chatty, but we managed to pull out all of the food and a giant birthday card and surprise the teacher anyway. I had taken in the cupcakes this morning and told the teacher that I wanted to surprise the kids since it was my last Friday with them (I end next Thursday). The kids knew that we were actually surprising the teacher. Boy, was she shocked when she found out what we had been planning! To top off the great day, all of the students kept coming up to me, begging me not to leave and hugging me to say that they loved having me with them. It was so sweet! I really can't believe I only have four days left in this placement... It sure flew by quickly! I'll definitely miss this class when the placement ends, and I'm glad that the whole class was there today so I could take a nice picture with them to remember all of their wonderful little faces. You'd think I'd be used to all the goodbyes from losing siblings over the years, but I know I'm going to be upset next week. Don't forget to enter the foster care e-book giveaway! I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks. Thanks! Taylor

My family has been doing foster care since I was three years old. I'm the only biological child in my family, though I now have five permanent siblings. Having nineteen siblings over the course of my lifetime has been an incredible experience, and I'm hoping that by sharing some of the ups and downs of being the only bio kid in a foster family, other foster families or people looking into doing foster care will be able to learn a bit of what life can be like. I also like to share what life is like on my journey to becoming a published author, as well as where my schooling and career choice are taking me.
