Life as a Writer, Disney World Cast Member, and
Big Sister through Foster Care & Adoption
Welcome back to Taylor Talks! Sometimes, I think that Disney magic appears just when you need it; rather than the Cast Members just making magic for Guests, the magic seems to reach us Cast Members when we could use some Pixie Dust as well. It was an absolutely crazy day at work today, but whenever I would start to get tired or my feet were getting sore, I was suddenly given the opportunity to spread some extra special smiles and make a Guest's day brighter. It was never anything huge or a big deal, but it was something nice that I could go out of my way to do, and it made both the Guest (and their family) and me pretty happy. It always came at just the right time when I was getting worn out, and gave me energy to continue helping Guests!
I got to stop and have a conversation with a little girl who was playing with a stuffed animal and talk about the characters in that Disney show. She got this huge grin on her face when she started talking to me about it. I also got to tell someone the meaning of Epcot and explain Walt Disney's vision for what EPCOT was going to be. I even got to find celebration buttons for a couple who hadn't yet been able to find engagement buttons, and just that simple act of giving them the right buttons for the occasion made them extremely happy. It was such a nice day to spread some joy! The little things that I'm able to do throughout the day really make me happy to be a Cast Member. Just the smile I get from a small child, or the "thank you" that a parent stops to say to me on their way out, make me proud of what I do. I may not be changing the whole world, but I feel like I'm touching the lives of some Disney Guests for at least part of their day. That's what keeps me going through the long shift or the trafficky drive home. I absolutely love what I do! Your continued support means the world to me. From foster care to novels, and family to work experiences, I look forward to sharing more of my life with you each day. Don't hesitate to share your own stories with me or ask me questions about my life. Please don't forget to like and share my Facebook author page as well! I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. My family has been doing foster care since I was three years old. I'm the only biological child in my family, though I now have five permanent siblings. Having nineteen siblings over the course of my lifetime has been an incredible experience, and I'm hoping that by sharing some of the ups and downs of being the only bio kid in a foster family, other foster families or people looking into doing foster care will be able to learn a bit of what life can be like. I also like to share what life is like on my journey to becoming a published author, as well as where my schooling and career choice are taking me.
