Welcome, November

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

It’s November at last! After the crazy build up to Halloween, it seems like most people are going to calm down for a little while now, at least until Thanksgiving preparations begin. But in our family? No, we’re still in full swing with the chaos.
Tomorrow, my little sisters turn five and I turn twenty-one. It’s crazy to think about that… I’m not doing anything big deal for my birthday tomorrow, but I am having a friend come over for dinner tonight. The big deal tomorrow is really for my little sisters. They’re having a birthday party with their closest friends from their preschool class last year, in addition to everyone’s older siblings, and then all of the parents are coming as well. They’re having their party at the place where they do gymnastics, so all of the kids (big and little) will be able to get all of their energy out tomorrow by tumbling, rollings, bouncing, and balancing. It should be a great day.

In the meantime, I’m working (and will probably continue to work up until the last minute tomorrow) to get all of the baked goods ready for the party. I’ve been baking for the past few days, and everything is finally starting to come together. I’m going to have two different kinds of cupcakes and cookies cut in the shape of the number “5″ ready for the party. The girls decided on the themes that they wanted for the party, so one chose “Frozen” and one chose “Sofia the First.” So everything that I’m making (with the exception of the peanut butter frosting) is either light blue or purple to go with their themes. I even let the girls help me with adding some ingredients, so they felt like they helped with making their cookies. I really hope that everything turns out well tomorrow!

Keep your fingers crossed that I’ll be able to finish everything on time, or my mom won’t let me take on the baking anymore…she’ll buy things from the store instead! Yikes!

I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.

Thanks!
Taylor

    About

    Picture
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
