Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
One of my resolutions for the new year was to write more. To be specific, I really want to get a lot of work done on my book, and would love to have it finished by the end of the year. In general though, I want to write whenever I can, whether it be in a blog post, a short story, or a poem for someone. So I took a major step in my writing career just a few minutes ago.
I entered my first writing competition.
It’s not a competition for money or anything like that. There’s only one grand prize of being published in a magazine, which would be an absolutely incredible opportunity to be given. It was a short story competition, and I had to write a story based on a photo prompt. I think that my story came out really well, and I’m proud of it. I’ve been working on it for about a month, because I wrote it, and then re-wrote it, and then edited and revised the piece. I wanted it to be just right, and I think I accomplished my goal. Even if I don’t win the competition, I’m proud of myself for entering and doing something with my writing career. It seems like a good start to the path I’m taking.
I won’t find out the results of the competition for a while, but I’ll definitely post about the outcome when I do find out. Maybe I’ll even post my short story one day… we’ll see how it goes! In the meantime, check out my author page on Facebook and “like” it to stay up to date with my writing career. Thanks for the support!

My family has been doing foster care since I was three years old. I'm the only biological child in my family, though I now have five permanent siblings. Having nineteen siblings over the course of my lifetime has been an incredible experience, and I'm hoping that by sharing some of the ups and downs of being the only bio kid in a foster family, other foster families or people looking into doing foster care will be able to learn a bit of what life can be like. I also like to share what life is like on my journey to becoming a published author, as well as where my schooling and career choice are taking me.
