An Insanely Busy Day

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

Alright, didn't I mention something yesterday about a jinx at work? Well, what did I tell you? Yesterday we talked about how slow it was, so today we were extremely busy all day long!
It's true, we were insanely busy today. It seemed as though we constantly had twenty things to do all at once, and it was just a matter of prioritizing which to do first. I feel so lucky to work in a place where the leadership team is so involved in the minute-by-minute proceedings of the job though. I think that in some places, managers just sit back and observe, making sure that everything is running smoothly. But in Disney, anyone in a management position is directly involved in everything that happens, from sweeping up if they see garbage on the floor, to clearing off dirty tables in the restaurants, to lending a hand in whatever position is overwhelmed at the moment. We wouldn't be able to get through each day if we didn't have an incredible management team at our location.

It was also great to have some amazing Guest interactions today. There were quite a few people who truly made me smile and laugh, making me forget moments of dizziness or sore feet and just making me happy to be there. When I meet Guests who are happy to stop and talk with me for a moment, who want to share their joy and wonder with me for our brief interaction, it really excites me.

Do you want to know what doesn't excite me, though? I almost finished reading "Wicked" today, but my break stopped about ten pages too soon. I was *this* close to finishing it! Do you know how frustrating that is, to have just a tiny bit of a book left and no time to read it? My heart breaks a little when I need to step away from a good book, especially when I don't know how soon I'll be able to pick it up again. It looks like I'm going to need to find time to sit alone and finish it tomorrow, because I just can't wait until my next work day to read during a break again.

It seems like my whole family has a million things to take care of tomorrow, but hopefully I'll find a few minutes to read and to work on my own children's book... I've been waiting to work on illustrations since Monday! I'm itching to make some more progress on it and share some new sneak peek pictures via my Instagram account!

Your continued support means the world to me. From foster care to novels, and family to work experiences, I look forward to sharing more of my life with you each day. Don't hesitate to share your own stories with me or ask me questions about my life. Please don't forget to like and share my Facebook author page as well!

I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.

Thanks!
Taylor

    About

    Picture
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
