Happy birthday to my dad! Wow, today was a fantastic day, and everything really turned out well for our little party!
I made cupcakes and cake pops, both of which were a hit with everyone. I also made roasted potatoes, and my dad grilled dogs and burgers on his new grill. That was actually his big surprise birthday present: a new grill! Our grill in New York had been really old, so we threw it out before the move. We've been without a grill for over two months, which has been rough for the whole family, but especially for my dad. He loves grilling; he even used to grill in the snow! Our new neighbors were here for a few hours and they seemed really nice so far. The kids got along wonderfully, and had a great time playing with each other. Everyone enjoyed swimming in our pool before we sat down to eat the amazing bar-be-que feast that my dad had prepared. There were hot dogs and hamburgers, and then he had cooked roasted potatoes that I had prepared. Everything was so delicious! The dad in the family next door celebrates his birthday the day after my dad, so we ended up celebrating both birthdays. The kids got a kick out of the fact that we put a candle in two cupcakes for each of the birthday boys. |
