Happy Father's Day everyone! I hope that all of the families out there were able to enjoy a nice day with the special dads in their lives.
My siblings had all made cards and pictures for my dad, and he was happy to just spend time with the family at home. Of course, as it goes with most things in my house, the day ended up being a little bit backwards since all of us kids got presents instead of my dad. Let me explain...
Since my dad wanted to hang out at the house and watch a movie with the kids, my mom and I took the opportunity to go down to the Disney area and take care of some things that we had been wanting to do. I had to switch out some shirts for work, and then we wanted to head over to this store that I had heard about where Disney sold discounted merchandise. I wasn't exactly sure what the store was, but I figured it may have been either damaged items or discontinued items or something along those lines. I didn't even know if it was a store for Disney Guests in general, or if it was for Cast Members and their families; I can't even remember where I heard about this store!
Well, I still don't really know what was up with that store, or why certain things were sold there (or if there were random Guests shopping there in addition to Cast Members), but we did find some nice bargains. We ended up bringing home a bag full of stuff for the kids and handed out all of the surprises after dinner.
We did get my dad a nice cheesecake at the store, so it wasn't like we had forgotten about him. Unfortunately, he was so exhausted that he went to bed shortly after dinner and didn't get to enjoy it tonight, but I'm hoping he'll be feeling better tomorrow. Maybe we'll get to take him out to lunch or something to celebrate a day late. I mean, who wants to deal with the crowds on Father's Day anyway? Celebrating a day late would be just fine with all of us.
Sometimes my parents prefer the laid-back holidays to the crazy excitement. It was great just to sit down to dinner together and talk, and I know that the twins enjoyed cuddling up with my dad for their movie this afternoon. It's the little moments that we really enjoy with our dad, no grand gestures needed.
