Well we had quite the day at my house... we had no power for about four hours!
Of course, the power went off a little after noon, before half of us had eaten lunch. I ended up needing to grab a bunch of things out of the fridge within five seconds to keep as much cold air in as possible, just so we could make some sandwiches.
The rest of the family spent quite a while out in the pool since there was nothing to do in the house. I, on the other hand, was able to download Netflix on my iPad, so that I could continue with my "How I Met Your Mother" marathon. I'll admit, I'm slightly addicted to this show. Anyway, I opened the curtains on my bedroom window, pulled my hair up in a bun, and hung out as we waited for the power to come back.
My dad finally took the kids out with him and went to buy dinner for everyone, since we couldn't cook anything. And wouldn't you know it, just moments before everyone came back, the power suddenly returned! We were able to eat dinner in the air conditioning and cool off after the clocks were reset. It was wonderful.
Now, as glad as I am that the power was restored finally, it's still really bugging me that we don't know what happened. All I know is that when my mom called the power company, she was told that the problem was being worked on and they were going section by section to get everyone's power back on. I don't know exactly how many people were without power today, but it must have been quite a lot if it took that long for everything to be fixed.
