Don't you just love the feeling of going out to hang with a friend after you haven't gone out in a really long time? That's how I felt tonight when a friend and I got together.
We also ended up spending part of the evening with my family. Of course, it was Chinese Food Friday at my house, so my friend joined us for dinner... Then, my sister had been told that she had two art projects picked to be in the high school art show tonight, a full-body sculpture that she had worked on for a group project, and a beautiful photograph that she had taken on a class field trip where the young photographers walked around in our town. So of course we all went to show our support and see the work displayed at the high school. My sister could not have been any prouder of her work, and we were all really proud of her too! Both art pieces looked great! Then, of course, since it was over 80 degrees out, we all had to make an ice cream run. It was a great night.
Of course, fun nights out with friends always make me feel a tad guilty that I wasn't home to catch up on television shows with my mom, or give good night hugs to my little sisters... But I guess it's good to have a night out every once in a while!
Oh, as a side note, I thought I'd mention how crazy my life can be... My mom actually got a phone call at 2am asking if we could take in two children!! If we had the room and weren't moving in two months, I could have woken up to have two new siblings this morning. Unfortunately, my mom couldn't agree to take in the kids because we just don't have the space or the time to help the foster care system up here anymore, but we'll see what happens in the future.
