Life as a Writer, Disney World Cast Member, and
Big Sister through Foster Care & Adoption
Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
My goodness! I can't believe how late it is already... I just sat down for the first time at 11pm after being on my feet all day.
We went shopping right after breakfast this morning and were out for quite a while. Three stores later, we came home with a ton of ingredients and spent the rest of the day baking.
All of my sisters and I accomplished quite a lot in the kitchen today. Three batches of cookies are completely finished, and there's more dough in the fridge that will be ready to go in the oven tomorrow. This is only the beginning of our holiday baking, and we really enjoyed ourselves today.
We decided to do our holiday baking earlier this year for a few reasons, one of which was that the girls are easily bored on breaks from school. They seem to really love baking with me, and they certainly had a good time today. The first batch of cookies we made were dairy-free sugar cookies, which the girls cut into shapes with some new cookie cutters we bought this morning. They really enjoyed picking out the shapes they wanted and pressing out the cookies. I could barely hold them off as I explained that we weren't going to decorate the cookies until tomorrow.
It was so nice to work together with all three of my sisters over the course of the day. We worked like a well-oiled machine as we added ingredients, mixed things together, popped cookies in and out of the oven, and cleaned bowls for the next batch. Hopefully tomorrow goes just as well, even though I'm sure it'll end up being messier. The girls can't wait to decorate their cookies with pink and purple frosting (don't those colors just scream holidays?) and of course, they want to eat them all tomorrow. We'll have to see how long I can hold them off!
I can't believe how quickly this Thanksgiving weekend is coming to a close. It's going to be December in the blink of an eye!
Thank you so much for your continued support! I look forward to sharing more stories about my experience with foster care, and hopefully hearing from readers who have questions or similar stories to share. I'm always willing to answer questions and hear about other experiences! Please don't forget to like and share my Facebook author page as well!
I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.
My family has been doing foster care since I was three years old. I'm the only biological child in my family, though I now have five permanent siblings. Having nineteen siblings over the course of my lifetime has been an incredible experience, and I'm hoping that by sharing some of the ups and downs of being the only bio kid in a foster family, other foster families or people looking into doing foster care will be able to learn a bit of what life can be like. I also like to share what life is like on my journey to becoming a published author, as well as where my schooling and career choice are taking me.
