My Dream Come True

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

I just finished an almost eleven hour work day, but it was well worth it because I have some fantastic news as a result!

I am now officially a Disney Trainer!

What does that mean exactly? Well it means that I'm now able to train new Cast Members in my location! It's the first big step in preparing for a long career with the Disney Company, and I couldn't be more excited about it! I even got the official Disney Trainer pin this morning!

I had to go to a class at 8:30 this morning to be taught how to be a trainer, and then had a full day of work after the class was over. It was extremely tiring, but absolutely worth the exhaustion. I mean, I had to wake up at 5:30am in order to get ready and out the door with enough time to get to Epcot before the class started. That's insanely early for someone who hates mornings! I normally don't get up until almost 8am for a regular work day, so this was quite an adjustment. But the class that I went to was led by an awesome woman who was energetic, able to capture our attention at that early hour, and who made the class fun for us. If I had to be here that early, at least I was able to enjoy myself!

Becoming a trainer for new Cast Members was something that I was interested in from my first week with the company. My own trainers were so incredible, helpful, and inspiring at the start of my career here, and have continued to be a source of constant support for me over the time I've been here. Add that inspiration to the fact that I went to school for teaching, and it wasn't a stretch to think that I'd like to teach new Cast Members once I knew what I was doing myself! I voiced my interest to the management team at my location after I had been here for a while, but I found out that I had to wait until the location leaders had put together a list of Cast Members who they thought would make good trainers. I had one person who went to bat for me, telling me that he believed I would do a great job in the position, and one of my own trainers mentioned her agreement, and I sat back and waited to see what everyone else thought. Sure enough, I received an invitation to the training program a few weeks ago and found out about the class today! I was so excited!

I don't know when I'll actually start training someone, but I'm thrilled that I was able to take the class today and prepare for the future. It's a huge responsibility being a Disney trainer, but I'm confident in my abilities and I look forward to being that teacher, support system, and first impression of our location to the new Cast Members. It's going to be amazing! Plus, now I feel like I'm working for a company that I love and my degree is kind of coming into play as well. I'm sure my parents will be happy that all of that college education will be used in some form!

I can't wait to begin my work as a trainer and see where the future takes me! Disney World truly is the place where "Dreams Come True!"

Your continued support means the world to me. From foster care to novels, and family to work experiences, I look forward to sharing more of my life with you each day. About

    Picture
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
