The Query Stage

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!

I felt so good today after getting a lot accomplished for my novel!
So I know that I've mentioned before that I need to send out emails to literary agents in hopes of finding someone to represent my work. This is called the Query Stage, where you send query letters to the agents. To query someone means to ask them a question, and you're basically asking these agents if they like your synopsis (and in many cases, the first few pages of your manuscript) enough to want to read your whole book. If they then request your entire manuscript, you wait to see if they like the project enough to want to work with you. It's a very long process.

Anyway, I've sent out a few other query letters in the past. I then took a break from looking at the book or anything connected to the book because I had been focused on it for so long. But I've been itching to start making more progress with it, and so I sent out a new email a week or so ago. But then I stopped again. I got busy, I had work, I was binge-watching "How I Met Your Mother" and didn't have time to read up on agents... I know, pitiful. Then today, something hit me and I started reading up on multiple agents in an attempt to choose a few more people to query.

I ended up sending emails to three more agents today. The waiting game is the worst part of this whole process, but hopefully in a few weeks someone will want to read more of my story. I'll just have to keep hoping and waiting, and I'll start researching additional agents in case I need more options. It may be a long road ahead of me, but I know that at the very end there is a beautiful published book with my name on the cover, and that's worth waiting for.

Your continued support means the world to me. From foster care to novels, and family to work experiences, I look forward to sharing more of my life with you each day. Don't hesitate to share your own stories with me or ask me questions about my life. Please don't forget to like and share my Facebook author page as well!

I’d greatly appreciate it if you would share this blog with friends and family through your favorite social media sites. If you’re sharing on Twitter, don’t forget to tag me (@TayTayK02) and use the hashtag #TaylorTalks.

Thanks!
Taylor

    About

    Picture
My family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.

I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life.

I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day.

I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing!
