Well, it's been just about four weeks since the release of my newest children's book, "The Way the World Changed," and I couldn't have asked for a better release! I'm still amazed at how many children we've been able to reach and help with this story!
Last week, I sent out over 30 copies of the book after inscribing messages in each and signing them. So many people wanted to purchase the book from me directly so they could receive a signed copy, which was something that I never expected! It was such an honor to know that there were people who valued me as a writer enough to want my signature in the book. These copies were sent out all over the country, from here in Florida, to Texas, to Michigan and New York... I can't even imagine how many states have a copy of my book in them now! My illustrator, Ashlynn, and I are so thrilled with this outcome! We've even sold a few copies of the book in Canada!
I still have a few more books to sign and send out this week, but overall, I feel like life is slowly getting back to normal after all of the excitement from the release. My new classes started this week for my Master's program, and it's the first time that I'm taking two classes at once. I have mixed feelings about online classes, and have been taking just one at a time because I'm in no rush to complete the program; why stretch myself thin when I can focus all of my attention on one place? I mean, I'm still dealing with other areas of life as well... I normally have work, my family, the adoption process. There's a lot going on in my life! But, since Disney isn't reopening until halfway through this semester, I figured I would try to balance two classes and get ahead just a little bit. Who knows? If it goes well, maybe I'll be able to double up on classes again in the future and complete my degree in two years instead of three.
Since I don't have enough going on in my life, I'm now also organizing a virtual vendor sale, to serve as a fundraiser for my adoption! I'm incredibly excited to get the ball rolling on this and have already found numerous other vendors who would like to take part in the event. A good majority of these vendors are also prospective adoptive parents who are looking to raise funds for the adoption process, so it will be wonderful to help everyone get closer to their goal! I'll be sure to post here when we have the details finalized because we'll have vendors from all over the country ready to sell their goods!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day tomorrow... continue to stay safe and stay home as much as possible. Those virus numbers are out of control and there's no reason to put your health at risk for anything!
Thanks for reading!
