We're having a much more low-key night compared to last night's craziness... unless you count Twin A's sudden bout of the giggles after we went out to dinner. That was, as Twin B has taken to saying, a "bit" silly.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
It's hard to believe that the first week of school is almost over, but here we are on Thursday night with only one more school day until the weekend. Somehow, it seems like this week just flew by... then again, I did sleep in a lot the past three days. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
For those of you wondering, yes, I am still the color of a lobster. Today was not fun with all of the pain in my shoulders and arms, but luckily I have an awesome mom and sister who are taking really good care of me. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
If you want to become a foster parent, you have to go through an application process. You can almost think of it like a job application in a way, because you need to prove that you're the right person for the job of caring for a foster child. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, I saw a post on one of the foster family pages of which I am a member, and it got me thinking about the way foster children usually arrive at a new foster home. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Let's imagine a scenario for a moment. You have four children at home, a mix of biological and adopted kids. You also have a pair of foster children in your care, a brother/sister duo. The kids range in age from eighteen months to ten years old. You live in a small home with just enough room for the six kids to sleep comfortably at night. You wouldn't change it for the world, but it can definitely get crazy with a family of eight. Now you get a phone call from C.P.S. asking if you can take an infant who was just removed from her home. What do you say? Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Have you ever talked to a child about why they were placed into foster care? Have you ever looked a kid in the eye and explained why they were put into the system? Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'm part of these two groups on Facebook for foster parent support, which I'm sure I've mentioned before. I rarely write on the pages, but I like to read about other people's experiences. I know, sounds stalker-ish ha ha, but it's purely educational, I promise! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, I was thinking about the idea of wanting to know where you come from. It was a special day in our family; the birthday of a man who I called my grandfather, even though we weren't technically related, and my grandma's birthday as well. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
It's Foster Parent Friday once again, and I'm excited to share another foster parent interview here on my blog. If you missed the first interview, be sure to go back and read it after you read tonight's post! Tonight, a foster mom named Nicki shares her views and opinions on her foster care journey. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
