I had a lot going on tonight (making cupcakes for a little surprise party) so I don't have time for a long post. I thought that I would share a memory of early on in our foster care journey though.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I was talking with my parents for a few minutes about my blog. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I struggle with deciding on a topic for a blog post. Talking to my parents about our journey often sparks a memory or gives me a topic that I can write about. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I wanted to share a funny memory of when my littlest sisters were younger. As I may have mentioned before, having twins in the family is completely different than any other sibling or sibling group I've ever had. Watching twins grow up can really bring some humor into normal everyday life. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Last night, I was talking about our plans to move to Florida and I was discussing the last time the whole family was in an RV for three weeks straight. Tonight, I wanted to think back to the first time I ever went on vacation to Florida, back when I was six years old. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was a long, exhausting day for me. I was out of the house at 7am and on my way up to my college campus. From 8am to 3pm, I was part of a "Success Camp" which was basically working with my peers on this semester-long practical exam that we need to complete in order to become certified to teach. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope that you've all had an enjoyable day with loved ones, whether they be your significant other, children, siblings, or parents! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
How many of you have a big age gap between you and your siblings? In many large families, there can be a pretty big gap between the oldest and youngest children. In my family, there are exactly sixteen years between my youngest sisters and myself. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
First off, Happy Hanukkah! It’s the last night of the holiday, and I hope everyone has had a wonderful celebration! Tonight, I thought I would share a very special memory from when my brother first came to live with us. He came when he was four years old, and he arrived just days before Christmas. Like a special Christmas present. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was our annual trip to the mall to see Santa and to get our Christmas tree! It really feels like the holiday season has arrived once we put that Christmas tree up in the living room. First of all, everyone in our area must have decided to go see Santa today. Can I just tell you all that we were in the mall for about two hours today? Yeah, standing on line with two overly excited, yet whiny and cranky, five-year-olds, plus an eleven-year-old who is just as whiny about the wait can certainly make the experience less than wonderful. But the moment you get to the front of the line, and all of the little (and not quite so little) faces see Santa up close, all of the waiting is totally worth it. Especially when he’s super sweet and takes the time to speak directly to each member of the family and put everyone in the Christmas spirit. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
One of the most common questions I’m asked when people find out about my lifestyle is if I still talk to all of my former foster siblings. Sadly, the answer is no. After children leave our home, we don’t see them anymore. We don’t talk to them or write letters, we don’t get Christmas cards or exchange birthday wishes. These kids merely become a memory for us, and we don’t even know if they remember their time with us after a while. The younger the children are when they stay with us, the greater the odds are that they will forget about living here after they’ve been gone for a while. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
