I found inspiration to start a new children's book! I'm really excited to get started on a new project, even though I'm still in the midst of working on my novel.
Before I start writing stories, I always come up with a game plan. I write a list of plot points that I want to cover. I write down descriptions of all of my characters, from names to ages to hair color. I need to connect with my story before I can find the words to take what's in my head and put it on paper for others to enjoy.
My only problem is that I'm stuck when it comes to the main character's name. I know that I want this to be a children's book centered around a little girl, but I cannot figure out what I want her name to be. I can't move forward in my creative process until I figure this out. I haven't even thought about a title yet, or what the other characters' names will be, but I need to decide on a name for this main girl.
So what do I do when I come across a creative road block like this? Well normally I'll do some research, walk away from the project for a while, or stare at a blank page until something pops into my head. But tonight I thought I would try something different. I decided to make a poll and share it with others to see what you all think would be a good name to use. I've come up with a few of the names that keep popping into my head, and figured that I could take into account the opinions of some of my loyal blog readers. The poll is below, and I'd love it if you could click on the name you like the most. Remember, it's for a little girl in a children's book. I'll let you know what the final decision will be when I determine it!
