My entire life, I've always used the same fun fact when asked to share something interesting about my life. Class introductions, meeting new people in any kind of environment... you ask me for a fun fact, I have my answer prepared.
I've had nineteen foster siblings, five of whom have been adopted by my parents.
I mean, hey, wouldn't you use that if it applied to you?
Well, in my location at work, we do this little interview series each week to get to know things about one another that may not come up in daily conversation. I was chosen as one of the people to be featured this coming week, so I sat down to answer the interview questions today.
What was the very first question? You guessed it...
Here's the problem though: everyone in my location already knows about my nineteen siblings! Come on, you don't get featured in a magazine without everyone knowing about it! So while that was extremely awesome, it left me in a weird place; for the first time in my life, I couldn't use my go-to fun fact.
I actually had to end up answering all of the other questions before circling back to a fun fact about my life. This simple question really stumped me. In the end though, I decided to talk about the fact that I have two children's books on Amazon and I'm working on publishing my first novel. Not a lot of people at work actually know that I'm a writer, so once I realized that, my fun fact became pretty clear.
