For every crazy, chaotic, mixed-up day of work that I experience, I am lucky enough to experience a fun-filled, supercalifragilisticexpialidocius kind of a day! Today, if you couldn't tell, was one of the latter kind of days.
I was able to meet a new member of our team today, who was very nice, and I even got to help teach her a little. I had some time to talk with fellow Cast Members while working, which is always a pleasant way to spend the day. But the very best part of the day, of course, had to be the interaction that I had with Guests today.
Everyone seem to be in such a good mood today. Maybe it was because the rain held off, or maybe it was just because they were happy to be in Disney, but either way, the vast majority of Guests were so talkative and interested in having friendly conversation with Cast Members. There were four specific instances throughout the day that really stuck with me...
- I met a family in which the mother was so proud of her daughters and so thrilled to be celebrating her husband's birthday at Disney. She couldn't stop raving about her wonderful family. She was so thankful to us for giving her family one of the best tables in the restaurant.
- At one point, I drop something on the floor, and before I could turn around to pick it up, the sweetest little boy was standing behind me handing me the object that I had dropped. He had the biggest smile and was so polite. I wanted to thank him further than just saying "thank you," because he was just so sweet to run up and help me, so I grabbed a Mickey Mouse sticker and wrote 'Big Helper' on it. When I went back to give it to him, he was no longer standing where he had been earlier. I kept the sticker in my pocket and when I found him a while later at his table and gave him the sticker, he just got the biggest smile. His family was genuinely surprised and happy that I had come back to acknowledge him, and it really made my day.
- When bringing one family to their table, the little girl in the party was so polite and called me by my name. She couldn't have been more then elementary school age, but she tried to sound out the name of my hometown and chatted with me all the way across the restaurant. When she saw me again a while later, she called out to me, yelling, "Hi there, Taylor!" She was just so sweet each time she saw me throughout the evening.
- Since I was closing tonight, a couple stopped to chat with me as they were preparing to leave the restaurant. They were actually from another part of Florida, and asked me about New York and how long I've been here. They were such nice people... They started telling me about some places in Florida that I should be sure to visit, and talking with me about what my experiences have been like here so far. It was a great any to end the night.
I'm so glad that I work in a place where people are so genuinely happy and I get to have such great conversations throughout the day!
