Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Yesterday, I wrote about the rapid speed in which sickness runs through my entire family when anyone gets sick. Today, I thought that I would tie that topic into an experience that our family had with a foster child just under two years ago. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I’d like to discuss something that rules your life when you’re part of a large family like mine: SICKNESS. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today was my first day of fieldwork! I am definitely over my case of nerves from yesterday… The teacher that I am going to be working with seems like a wonderful guy so far, and I’m excited to be learning from him. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I am dealing with a lot of nerves. As an education major, I complete three semesters of fieldwork and a semester of student teaching. I have already completed two semesters of fieldwork in my junior year of college. Tomorrow, I begin my third fieldwork placement. For the first time in my life, I will be working in a middle school. I’ve been placed with a sixth grade teacher, not too far from my home, and I’ll be joining him in his English & Social Studies classes once a week for the semester. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Normally when I write an inspirational message, I have a picture that I can upload to my blog post. However, there is currently a technical problem with the website that I use to host my blog, and I cannot upload any pictures. Therefore, I will just write my inspirational message for the day below. Do you ever just feel like you have so much that you want to accomplish in life that you might never accomplish any of it? Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today, my brother, sister, and I went to the local library, while my mom took my other sisters out for a haircut. I worked at the library throughout high school, and only left when I went away to college. I love going back to visit, but it’s more difficult because our library is no longer three minutes from my house. The historic building that the library was housed in was severely damaged in Hurricane Irene back in 2011. Due to flooding and mold, the library was forced to move out of the building and take temporary placement in another building on the other side of town. It’s still only about ten minutes away from my house, but I don’t ever have a reason to go in that direction on a regular basis. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Last month, I shared a post in which I talked about the header at the top of my Twitter page (@TayTayK02). My header consists of a paragraph that I wrote about myself in an exercise for my creative writing class in my sophomore year of college. I wrote a paragraph about each of my family members, and today, I thought I would share what I wrote about my dad. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Today is a very important day in American history, September 11th. Thirteen years ago, our country was changed forever when the Twin Towers were attacked in New York City. I was only in third grade when it happened. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
