I was just thinking about adoption, and more specifically, the adoptions that we've had in our family. Each adoption is a celebration with family and friends, but it's not just our immediate family that get official new titles like "mom," "brother," "sister," or "dad." People outside of the immediate family also get new titles when a child becomes an official part of our family.

Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
All children feel differently about their situations when they are in foster care or are adopted. Some kids are proud to be adopted; some kids don't want anyone to know that they were put into the foster system. It all depends on the child and his or her experience. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight, I wanted to talk about the direct role that my siblings and I have always had in our foster care journey. I thought that people might be interested to hear about the voting process that we go through before making any important decision. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight's post will be brief because I'm exhausted. I have no other excuse, just that I need sleep and can't think. On the bright side, though, a two hour delay was already called for tomorrow morning due to the freezing temperatures or something, so at least I don't have to get up at 6:30am! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I'm sitting here making some progress on tons and tons of work for becoming a certified teacher, and I'm at the point where my mind has started to wander. I've been sitting in the same spot for hours and need to do anything other than this homework. I started thinking about a conversation that I've had quite a few times with people in the past, and I thought I would share it here today. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope that you've all had an enjoyable day with loved ones, whether they be your significant other, children, siblings, or parents! Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Sometimes when I’m thinking about what topics to cover in upcoming posts, I’ll start thinking about all of the major things that we’ve gone through concerning foster care over the years. Tonight, I happened to think about adoption; specifically, how the adoption process begins. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Tonight’s post is going to be brief because it’s been a very long day. My mom, one of my five-year-old sisters, and I have been at the “hostible” (as my sister calls it) since about 12:30pm. My sister was pretty sick over the past few days, and it has only gotten worse. Her oxygen levels aren’t stable, and her asthma was acting up, so she was admitted to the hospital overnight to be monitored. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
Just when I think nothing interesting ever happens in my life, something completely out of the ordinary happens once again. Welcome back to Taylor Talks!
I’ve been talking about my siblings’ adoptions lately, and I thought I’d stick with that subject a while longer. |
AboutMy family started doing foster care when I was three years old. We took in nineteen children over the course of eighteen years, with our last placement leaving in December 2014. I'm the only biological child in my family, though my parents adopted five of my siblings.
I love to share my perspective on the foster care system and share how my unique upbringing shaped my life. I'm also a Cast Member at Walt Disney World and lover of all things Disney! My career allows me the opportunity to find a little bit of Magic in life every day. I enjoy sharing my journey as a writer as well. Find my children's books on Amazon and keep following my blog for updates on future books that I'll be releasing! Archives
